Overall Responsibility

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for the identification, connection, and qualification of leads for the Sales teams. This involves creating approaches and tactics that help to convert 500 to the sales pipeline as a lead. They work in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with designers, engineers, analysts, markets, sales reps, and product managers to help prospective customers ensure that their employees, students, and other stakeholders have engaging and successful training and learning experiences.


  • Learn the products, the Open LMS story, the markets we serve, our buyer personas, the user journey, and the pain points our customers experience
  • Attend product training; gain understanding of how products are used by different personas and best practices
  • Stay up-to-date regarding product-led initiatives, inbound marketing efforts, and our customer engagement model
  • Create your “stories” or “pitch”
  • Formulate creative outreach strategies
  • Create a territory plan with Account Executives and marketing input
  • Craft prospecting messages, formulate creative approaches and execute
  • Conduct discovery calls, chats, and other prospect engagements to qualify prospects
  • Connect the qualified prospect to a salesperson sharing insight and information
  • Coach targeted prospect accounts that are product trial users to maximise their engagement and adopt good practices with the product
  • Work with the Growth Team to formulate new experiments


  • Business administration, industrial engineering, or education majors are desirable.
  • Experience working in consultation, sales, pre-sales is desirable.
  • Previous Business Development experiences are desirable.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana and Trello are desirable.
  • Well skilled in Salesforce (CRM).
  • Fluent in English, including writing documentation and engaging with prospective customers.
  • Ability to work in a high-energy sales team environment; phenomenal teammate
  • Positive and energetic phone/video call skills, excellent listening skills, strong writing skills
  • Willingness to try new things and learn from challenges
