The Database Developer is responsible for all aspects of data within the organization including storage, access, and recovery of data, as these pertain to data system performance. This includes but is not limited to database server management, schema design, development, and integration of data, and development of data pipelines including SSIS packages, replication, and mirroring of in house and/or cloud based solutions. Additionally, the Database Developer is responsible for the management of the reporting system including security, and development.


  • Partner with Software and QA team members utilizing Scrum.
  • Identify potential and current performance issues within the sphere of data performance, this includes both OLAP and OLTP design.
  • Analyze data needs for projected business requirements and develop/test/implement data system changes to fulfill those needs.
  • Responsible for health and performance of data systems including replication, contingency planning, SSIS packages, OLTP and OLAP databases.
  • Reviews changes proposed by software engineers to the data systems and makes recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain standardized business reports.
  • Maintain and improve the reporting system based upon business needs.
  • Work with internal and external teams to ensure smooth implementations of changes to data systems and/or reporting.
  • Document, for internal clients, changes that may impact client experience.
  • Coordinates with operations teams, client managers, technical support, and business managers to improve client reporting experience.
  • Work with software engineers to facilitate changes to the data system to support system enhancements. This includes but is not limited to developing local and/or cloud based data systems and building any required data pipelines.
  • Assist technical support in resolving performance issues in client developed reports.
  • Enforces standards of best practice for data systems.
  • Make recommendations and or implement upgrades to data systems.
  • Identify and recommend reporting upgrades.


To be successful in this role you have:

  • An understanding of normalization and reporting concepts.
  • Robust knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of SSIS and ETL methodologies.
  • Experience working with Powershell, PostgreSQL, Docker and AWS is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with relational database technology, data modeling concepts, tools and techniques, and general business operations
  • Knowledge of database design, high availability, backup and recovery strategies, and performance and tuning techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members in remote office locations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
