Reports to: Animation Manager

We’re looking for a 2D Animator to join an award winning, inclusive, and engaged creative team at LEO.

Our animators are responsible for thumbnailing, storyboarding and animating a range of stand-alone animations as well as incorporating visual effects into full-motion video. You will work in a range of different visual styles on a range of projects, focusing on character animation, motion graphics and effects. Understanding movement, motion and pacing. Creativity and competence using a variety of tools and methods is vital!

Working closely with rest of the animation team and our other disciplines you'll create stunning work from its inception to final delivery.


  • Storyboard animations following a written script
  • Design and create engaging animations
  • Understand Art Direction and apply these styles to the motion/character designs
  • Add effects/elements/motion graphics to existing video content
  • Create video composites, keying, rotoscoping
  • Work to the metrics set out by Lead Animators / Animation Manager
  • Ensure work is accurate and completed on time
  • Keep the Project Manager and leads fully informed on progress
  • Communicate any time savings in advance to the Skills Lead
  • Deliver a first-class customer service experience at all times
  • Perform other duties as required

Skills and knowledge

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Strong illustration skills
  • Adaptable to different styles of animation (e.g. 2.5D, talk and draw, motion graphics, kinetic text, character animation)
  • Solid understanding of traditional animation; design techniques; composition, green screen tracking and typography
  • Excellent ability to take a script and run with it.
  • Good ability in syncing animation to audio and source music when required
  • Good understanding of typography and layout
  • Good understanding and application of brand guidelines
  • Ability to work in a team or on own initiative
  • Good standard of spelling and grammar
  • Have a professional, dynamic and positive attitude
  • Have a keen eye for quality and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Have the ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively
  • Commercial awareness
  • Basic understanding of MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
