We are looking for a creative and versatile animator to join our team.

You will be responsible for storyboarding and creating animations using a range of techniques in motion design and character animation primarily using Adobe After Effects. If you understand how to follow a creative brief and turn it into high quality animation or illustration then this could suit you.

You will have excellent skills in Adobe After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop, and have a good understanding of editing for moving image (including sound). You will have experience working with Rubberhose or DUIK for character animation.

  • Designing and creating engaging animations
  • Storyboarding animations to a high level of finish following a written script
  • Understanding the Art Direction and applying it to the visual style of animation
  • Adding motion graphics and effects to existing video content
  • Source sound effects and music then adjust levels and sync to animation
  • Working to the metrics set out by the Lead Animator / Moving Image Manager
  • Ensuring work is accurate and completed on time
  • Keeping the Project Manager and relevant creative lead fully informed on progress
  • Delivering a first-class customer service experience at all times

Skills and knowledge

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Strong drawing skills
  • Excellent ability to take a script and translate into a visual storyboard with creative flair
  • Adaptable to different styles of animation (e.g. 2.5D, whiteboard, motion graphics, kinetic text, character animation)
  • Solid understanding of the principles of design, typography and layout
  • Solid understanding of traditional animation techniques
  • Good understanding of motion tracking and chroma keying in After Effects
  • Ability to lip-sync for character animation
  • Ability to apply brand guidelines to a visual style
  • Good standard of spelling and grammar
  • A keen eye for quality and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Basic understanding of MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Word)
